During the unit on drugs and society, students will explore the mechanisms by which legal and illegal drugs interact with the human brain. Students will discover the neurological pathways of drug action and addiction through inquiry-based activities. In the later parts of the unit, students will make connections between drug addiction and neurological disease. Additionally, students will understand the intimate connection between the outcomes of drug addiction and the creation of drug policy in U.S. society as well as globally.
